Build Updates
What a year. During the off season we did a whole bunch of upgrades to our cars.
Sherry decided it was time for a powertrain upgrade. Gone is the pony 302 V8 motor, replaced by a 6-cylinder twin-turbo Toyota 2JZGTE. Back to boost for Sherry. Limitless Motorsports also improved the roll cage for her open-top, drift-built monster.
Alex decided to go all-out on his Corolla. Cooling has been an issue for his 1UZFE V8 so he moved the radiator to the trunk. This frees up his engine bay for easy access and allows for better airflow over his radiator.
Putting the radiator in the trunk meant he would need to run a fuel cell. The fuel cell was placed behind the passenger seat for better weight distribution. Sounds like a win-win-win situation for Alex.
Mike took the year off to rebuild his S13. Cage work and a fully stripped interior is required for a track-only car.
And by taking the year off, Mike was able to do some body work to the 240SX coupe. The original aftermarket roof was missing, so CarNBike Moto sealed it up. That Big Country Labs wing is going to stand nice and tall.
Of course, some suspension work has to be done. Limitless Motorsports contacted Battle Version for their tried and true rear arms. They will work great with the Powered By Max rear drop knuckles. As a bonus, the PBM drop knuckles allow for a simple dual caliper setup. Those Wilwood secondary calipers are going to lockup hard.
Nate has been stocking up on JDM parts from GTR-Garage. Kunio helped him source quite a few things. First on the list is a set of Defi Advance gauges. The smoked faces give the gauge cluster a stealth-look. The cluster was made by Toby Broadfield from Broadfield Customs.
It's not just cosmetic upgrades for Nate. GTR-Garage got him a brand new S15 turbo and a set of HKS camshafts.
During this off season, Nate is going to swap over to the Z32 300ZX transmission. It is a stronger alternative to the stock SR20DET transmission and is a good upgrade for the added power from the turbo and camshafts. GTR-Garage also sent over a new set of Silvia brick-type headlights and corner lights. As soon as the new fenders from VIS Racing arrive, the front end will look as good as new.
Law is stepping up his power and suspension. Kunio was able to track down a set of rare RYO super angle knuckles for Law's S14.
Matched with the PBM lower control arms, the knuckles will give him some extra angle.
With all these upgrades, we will have very different cars for 2014. More power, more angle, more drifting.
