Stockton 99: Round 2
Team MINT can't stop drifting! This time around we attended the second round of the Stockton 99 Drift competition. Jose had won the last round after a spectacular battle to the end. Jose returns this round as the points leader in the series.
Alex and Jose were allowed the great opportunity to do a demonstration during the NASCAR Whelens All-American series the night before the drift competition. It was a great way to get the word of mouth out about the grassroots drifting happening in the NorCal area. Alex's 1UZ-FE powered Corolla held up nicely over the weekend with minimal overheating problems. Lack of tires after coming back from the epic ASB weekend was a big problem though.
Jose clearly knows this track very well. Throughout the day he was able to place his car exactly where he wanted it and with unmatched consistency.
Sherry with her drift-boss face on coming up the rear bank. Still rocking the battle scars from ASB, Sherry killed the competition with a third place qualifier.
After qualifying, the tandem battle began and it was kicked off by Alex and Sherry.
Sherry would go a win the battle but it was a fantastic tandem that lit up the entire crowd. MINT always knows how to get people excited!
Jose was top qualifier and got a double-pass but that didn't mean that he wouldn't keep the pressure up when he was on track.
Sherry and Jose competed in the finals, pitting the crowd favorite with the points leader. Jose would go on to win the competition and securing his points lead.
